Capital Area Workforce DevelopmentĀ is a public-private partnership that focuses on economic development by ensuring the local workforce has the skills, training and education to meet the needs of local employers. The board oversees several programs in Wake and Johnston Counties designed to serve businesses, individuals and youth. These programs deliver services that meet local needs.
Mission
The mission of the Capital Area Workforce Development Board is to create a highly effective workforce system. This system will provide employers with productive, skilled workers and offer citizens training and employment opportunities that promote job satisfaction and economic stability. The accomplishment of this mission will enable all citizens to contribute to the prosperity of the community.
Strategic Goals
Successful workforce planning is an active, ongoing, dynamic process that must be repeated and adjusted often. Our strategic planning process is all-inclusive and involves collaboration and information sharing. Our strategic goals:
- Promote business partnering to enhance regional competitiveness
- Facilitate employment success for adults and youth
- Lead the expansion of “Regional Collaborative Engagement” in workforce and economicĀ development initiatives
- Expand resources through strategic leadership and collaborative engagement
