The Pre-Employment Training (Customized Training) program is for businesses that are planning to hire multiple employees (typically 15 or more) for the same position over the following 2-5 months. The training must be customized (“not canned”). The employer agrees to pay 50% or more of the training cost. A state-approved training provider must develop and implement a skill-specific training curriculum specific to their unique training needs. Training can be conducted on-site or off-site. A simple contract is executed which spells out the training plan, the length of training, and the shared costs.
